[Walton Plans to Invest 1.14 Billion Taka in Lithium Battery Plant Construction]
Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, a leading manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment, has announced plans to invest nearly 1.14 billion taka to establish a lithium-ion battery production facility.
The company stated on April 27 that the local production of these rechargeable batteries, which are widely used in portable electronic devices, EVs, and other applications, will reduce reliance on imports.
This will also create new job opportunities and exports, as well as promote technological development.
Following its board's approval of the project and the company's unaudited earnings for the third quarter of the current fiscal year, Walton stated that commercial production is expected to commence in mid-2026.

[Sayona Mining Expands Moblan Lithium Mine Project]
Sayona Mining (ASX: SYA) has announced positive results from its 2024 drilling campaign at the Moblan lithium mine project in Canada, a joint venture with Investissement Québec. The drilling program, comprising 99 holes totaling 28,514 meters, aimed to collect infill data for a potential upgrade of the Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE). The results revealed significant high-grade lithium mineralization intercepts outside the current mineral resource pit shell, indicating potential for resource expansion at depth. Notable analytical results include 43.6 meters from 107 meters with 1.75% lithium oxide and 50.35 meters from 239 meters with 1.8% lithium oxide.
